Signs Your Brakes Need Replacement

As one of the most critical components of your vehicle, your brakes need to be in the best condition possible. Over time, your brake pads will wear down and become less effective. At Automotive Services Forster, we have many years' experience providing cost-effective brake checks for vehicles on the Mid North Coast.

The most common sign of your brake pads or discs needing replacement is a squealing noise when you slow down. This is usually a sign your pads have worn down enough to make contact with the brake rotor, which causes the sound. This is an intentional design that's meant to alert you that your brakes need attention.

A squealing noise may alternatively be due to a build-up of dirt or a rock stuck in the braking system, which also needs to be dealt with quickly. The other significant indicator of a faulty brake system is if it doesn't work properly and takes longer than usual to slow down. This can be avoided with regular servicing.

Brake Testing For Safety

Our workshop is fully equipped with the latest products and machinery, allowing us to perform complete disc machining, drum machining and replace brake shoes, pads, drums and cylinders in all cars, utes, 4WDs and light commercial vehicles. We even provide brake kits and services for major companies like Repco throughout the Mid North Coast.

To ensure every vehicle that leaves our workshop is safe to be on the road, we check every aspect of your brakes, including inspecting, cleaning and lubricating brake callipers, visually inspecting your brake master cylinder, and, if necessary, adjusting your park brake.
